Press release: DER Touristik expands its Turkish business across the Group

Strong start to the tourism season: DERTOUR, Jahn Reisen and ITS record bookings. Growing tourism business to be strengthened throughout Europe

Köln/Frankfurt, 16 May 2022: The tour operator brands of DER Touristik, DERTOUR, Jahn Reisen and ITS, have been booking Turkey at full speed since Easter. Bookings are currently at record levels and are four times higher than in 2019. Regular Turkey specials with favourable flight conditions and attractive hotel offers are intended to further boost strong growth. Numerous offers can already be booked in Antalya for the coming winter: Holidaymakers can now choose from package tours in more than 100 hotels and a wide range of flights. „The Turkish Riviera in particular offers top hotels and all-inclusive catering at a high level at very attractive prices“, emphasises Sven Schikarsky Chief Product Officer DER Touristik. „This means that Turkey will continue to be one of the top destinations beyond 2022 in which we intend to grow strongly.“ Hotel capacity on the Turkish Riviera is to be increased by around 25 per cent for 2023 and new exclusive properties are to be closed.

DER Touristik Group focuses on Turkey throughout Europe

The European travel group also plans to focus even more on the popular destination at group level in future and to support it with its full sales force in a total of 16 countries. During a meeting with the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Ersoy, and over a hundred hotel partners in Antalya at the end of April, Sören Hartmann, CEO DER Touristik Group and Dr. Ingo Burmester, CEO DER Touristik Europe, as well as other members of the International Management Board, confirmed the importance of the destination for DER Touristik. „We will continue to develop our Turkey portfolio and want to significantly expand our market share in the area of Turkey tours on the German market. The current very good incoming bookings confirm our strategy and we expect further growth,“ said Burmester. „Turkey is one of the main booking drivers in the entire DER Touristik Group. In addition to the expansion in Central Europe, we will also use the high potential of our Eastern European markets to grow further in the Turkey business. In the Nordic countries, our goal is to establish Turkey as the number two destination next to Greece,“ emphasises Sören Hartmann.
